Inspections happen where the signal does not

Construction inspections happen on sites, and sites are exactly the places where phone signal gives up: basements, remote plots, half-built structures. The old way of working is a clipboard and a paper checklist, then hours back at the office typing it all into a document and chasing signatures. InspectPro was built to replace that whole routine with software that works in the field first and the office second.

Offline had to be real, not a nice-to-have

Plenty of apps claim to work offline and then quietly lose your data the moment the connection drops. For an inspection tool that is fatal, because the inspector may never be back on that site. So the mobile side was built offline-first from the start: an inspector can complete a full inspection, attach photos and capture signatures with no connection at all, and the moment signal returns it syncs cleanly, retrying anything that fails, with nothing lost.

What we built

A multi-tenant inspection platform, a web back office paired with an offline-first mobile app, so each company runs its own inspections in its own space:

  • An offline-first mobile app where inspections, photos and signatures are captured on site and synced automatically when a connection comes back
  • Checklist templates and a wide range of inspection types covering the phases and frequencies a construction project actually runs through
  • Photo evidence tagged with GPS location, so every picture carries where and when it was taken
  • Multi-stage approval workflows set per project, moving an inspection from inspector to reviewer to approver, with an optional client sign-off
  • Polished PDF inspection reports with embedded photos and signatures, generated automatically and numbered per company and year
  • Multi-tenant separation so each company sees only its own work, with subscription tiers controlling which features and roles are available
  • Billing handled through Xendit, with the plan a company is on deciding what they can do

The hard part

Two things made this genuinely hard. The first was sync: reconciling work created offline on a phone with the records on the server, in the right order, with no duplicates and nothing lost. The second was the approval engine, because every project wants a slightly different chain of who reviews and who signs. Both had to be solid, because an inspection platform that loses a report or lets the wrong person approve one is worse than no platform at all.

Where it stands now

InspectPro lets inspectors do the whole job on a phone in the field, signal or no signal, and have it arrive back at the office as a clean, signed, properly formatted report. Multiple companies run on the same platform in their own separate spaces, each on the plan that suits them. The clipboard, the paper checklist and the evening spent retyping it all finally have a replacement built for the way inspection work really happens.

Project outcome

Built a multi-tenant construction inspection platform with an offline-first mobile app, so inspectors complete jobs, photos and signatures on site with no signal and sync them cleanly to head office, where multi-stage approvals turn them into polished, numbered PDF reports.
